Exhibitor case study: Omag

“We’ve had a lot of meetings both with existing and potential customers”

Italian packaging machinery manufacturer Omag operates across the world in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics markets.

We spoke to Fiorino Gregori - Omag President and General Manager in Russia and Ukraine - at RosUpack 2019 to find out more about the company and their impressions of the show.

Why did you choose to exhibit at RosUpack?

RosUpack is one of the most important exhibitions in the packaging industry in Russia worth attending.

What impressions do you have of the show so far?

I am pleasantly surprised by the number of visitors – it is very good, much more than last year. We’ve had a lot of meetings both with existing and potential customers.

What are your reasons for expanding into Russia?

We have a huge number of machines installed in Russia, so we’re here just to keep in touch with customers, offer them new ideas and new equipment, and to find new customers.

How optimistic do you feel about the Russian market and what are your plans over the next few years?

We’re passed the peak of the financial crisis, so I see only growth for the industry and a rise in sales.
We have a vision to introduce new types of equipment, expand our line, and introduce new technologies. We want to do more marketing and advertising and really get the story of our equipment across to clients.

What is your competitive advantage on the Russian market?

We have been active on the Russian market for over 40 years, we have an office in Moscow and with our Russian team we can support customers at every step of the purchasing process. In addition, the efficiency, technology and quality of our equipment is really appreciated by our customers. This is confirmed by the fact that we have more than 700 machines installed across the CIS.

Who are you looking to meet at RosUpack?

Of course, we are looking for customers who know what they want, so that we clearly know what we can offer them. But we are looking also for customers with special projects; it is really interesting for us because we can study and develop a new solution in collaboration with the customer.

How is the industry developing for your products?

There is strong competition in our industry; there’s always someone offering new solutions and new technologies. Today the main topics are Industry 4.0 and the green economy. We are now implementing predictive maintenance on our machines: thanks to IoT technologies and interconnection of machines, in the very near future it will be possible to constantly monitor the machine status, the lifecycle of components and system performances in order to minimise the risk of machine downtime.
