RosUpack and Printech 2024: record-breaking exhibition area and number of participants, hot topics of business events, new geographies, partners and business tools

From 18 to 21 June 2024 the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre hosted the 28th RosUpack International Exhibition for Packaging Industry, and the 9th Printech International Exhibition of Equipment, Technologies and Supplies for Printing and Advertising Industries.

This year, the largest Russian exhibitions of packaging and printing industries have shown the all-time records in the number of participants and the exposition area in 28 years of their exhibiting history!

The RosUpack and Printech exhibitions were located in five exhibition halls of two pavilions and occupied a total area of 55,000 square meters, and became the top events for the printing and packaging industry professionals, providing them with a unique opportunity to discover the latest industry trends and innovations, establish contacts with the leading companies and specialists, and discuss important issues with colleagues and exhibition participants from different countries.

The exhibitions were visited by 29,537 industry professionals from 44 countries worldwide and 85 regions of the Russian Federation, which exceeded the number of regions represented a year before. 13,792 specialists were the first-timers at the exhibitions.

Among the exhibition visitors are representatives of companies from various industries, such as food, processing, chemical industry, medicine and pharmaceuticals, as well as catering enterprises, wholesale and retail trade, warehousing, logistics and others: Aquaphor, Alpina Publisher, Bonduelle-Kuban, Art. Lebedev Studio, Mistral Trading, Wildberries, MOSCOW Agricultural Complex, UNICONF, Shchekino - Azot, Velikoluksky Meat Processing Plant, Yaroslavskie Kraski Association, Wimm-Bill-Dann Foods, L'Etoile, EkoNiva, Hochland Russland, Russian Post, Novolipetsk Steel Company, PAO Magnit, Vkusno i Tochka, Evalar, Nestle Russia, CDEK Global, TechnoNICOL, Auchan Retail Network, Faberlic, Pharmstandard, Eksmo Publishing House, Vostok-Servis Group of Companies, Yandex Lavka, Irkut Corporation, Cherkizovo Group of Companies, Unilever Rus, Yandex, SPLAT GLOBAL, and many others.

This season, the number of specialists from the food and beverage, clothing, tool production and printing industries noticeably increased, which was reflected in the product interest of visitors as the ready packaging topped the list (15,446 specialists were looking for companies in this particular section of the exhibition).

RosUpack and Printech Exhibition Area

The vast exhibition area and the range of products certainly piqued the interest of experts of the packaging and printing industries. The exhibition participants noted high demand for equipment, such that some machinery was sold right off the stands during the exhibition.

1,100 companies from 21 countries of the world took part in the exhibitions, with 45% of them being foreign companies. The focus of this exhibition season was on China, Turkey, and the Middle East countries. Among the Chinese exhibitors, the stands of Guangdong Youhua New Material Technology and Jiangmen Huilong Plastics Machinery captured the visitors' special attention, while the latter won the “Best Chinese Exhibition Stand” category at the RosUpack Exhibitor Awards Ceremony. The highlight of 2024 was the huge amount of working equipment on site. This year, they brought over 260 tons of equipment to both exhibitions! For example, the Terem Company presented 4 stands featuring the packaging industry machines over an area of 300 square meters and won the “The Largest Exhibition of a Company” category.

The exposition retained the representation of sectors in two pavilions of the exhibition center: the Printech exhibition occupied Hall 5, while the “Labelling” sector of RosUpack was presented in Hall 7, and the “Packaging Equipment” and “Packaging Recycling Equipment” sectors – in Hall 8. In Pavilion 3, the visitors had an opportunity to examine the companies’ offers in the “Packaging Production Machinery” and “Raw & Expendable Materials” sectors (Hall 14), as well as the “Ready Packaging” and “Warehousing Systems” sectors (Hall 15). Pavilion 3 also housed the PART Award exposition, where everyone could consider the packaging submitted to this year Competition by the manufacturers.

The outdoor exposition in front of Pavilion 2 of the Crocus Expo IEC was presented by the TechnoCar Company, the official dealer of the JAC and SHANN warehousing equipment. The company acted as a Partner of the outdoor exposition and showed loaders CPD 35 SHANN OLlMP 4.8сх cab 240384648 (with bale grabber D22Н-L4) and models CPCD 30 EUROPE 240384093 4.8сх cv (with roll clamp RJ2OJ-B3). All visitors could examine the presented machinery and select warehousing equipment under a special sales plan directly from the manufacturers and suppliers.

Business Program: Trends and Expert Opinions

The business events of the four-day exhibitions featured 150 lead speakers and were visited by 2,500+ unique attendees. Industry experts presented the newest trends, discussed success stories and tools facilitating business development in the new realities. The long-time exhibition partner, the National Confederation of Packagers (NKPak), co-organized the Forum of Packaging Manufacturers and Consumers.

The key topics of the Forum were:

“Consumer Markets and Packaging: How Internal and External Factors Affect the Industry”;
“Russian-Chinese Cooperation in the Packaging Industry”;
“Reviews of the Current State and Development Prospects of Key Packaging Markets: Paper, Cardboard, Corrugated Cardboard, Rigid and Flexible Polymer, Aluminum and Glass Containers.”

During the sessions, much attention was paid to the EPR law, packaging recycling trends, business opportunities, as well as modern marketing tools.

The business program and the pulp and paper industry exposition were partnered by the Self-regulating organization Association “League of Waste Paper Processors”, which also co-organized the Pulp and Paper Industry Conference – one of the LIGA LPK ecosystem events. The conference addressed such important topics as “Forecasts for the Development of the Pulp and Paper Industry and Paper Packaging Market,” hosted an expert session “Functional Paper and Cardboard Packaging: Consumer Trends", a research round table "Intensifying the Labor in Examples: Exchange of Causality for Speed" and many others. In total, the business program of the exhibitions included 23 expert sessions.

Speakers from friendly countries and state representatives took part in the sessions. Among the key speakers this year were Aslihan Arikan, the Secretary General of the ASD Turkish Packaging Manufacturers Association; Vladimir Chuikov, President of NKPak, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the State Enterprise “GOTEK”; Yulia Rumyantseva, Director of the Rigid Packaging at Sibur; and Grigory Gusev, Deputy Director of the Department of Wood Processing and Light Industries of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

This Season Success: RosUpack Connect Business Community Growth and New Services

This exhibition season, the RosUpack Connect industry community showed excellent results. More than 6,000 specialists joined the Community over the exhibition cycle. During the exhibition days, the RosUpack Connect managers conducted 54 on-site interviews in the Connect studio, had 20 spot interviews at exhibitor stands, and broadcasted live business events.

Also this year, the Community launched the Leadscanning, a new service for collecting contacts. Over 4 days of RosUpack and Printech, the service was used 34,093 times and by 63% of exhibitors. The average rating of the RosUpack Connect application on a five-point scale was 4.72. It bears reminding that the report on scanned contacts is stored in the Community account throughout the year, and all the interview and broadcast materials are exclusive and available only in the application. PART Award Ceremony Results. Packaging, Art, Research, Technology

The International PART Award Ceremony for packaging design and production took place on 20 June. The Award brings together passionate individuals and professionals who are ready to offer innovative developments in the field of packaging and packaging materials. This year, the PART Award statistics included 43 participating companies, 94 submitted applications, 24 students presenting their solutions in the “Student Concept” nomination, 118 competition samples received in 12 categories and 4 nominations of the Award. 16 laureates collected their well-deserved awards on stage at the Awards Ceremony. A comprehensive review of all competition samples was held based on pre-determined criteria.

Exhibition and Business Program Partners

This year, a new partner of Printech in China was PEIAC – the Printing Equipment Industries Association of China, – a leading association in the Chinese printing industry, as well as the organizer of China Print, one of China's major printing events.

The China Food and Packaging Machinery Industry Association (CFPMA) became a new Chinese partner for the RosUpack exhibition. It is the leading packaging industry association and organizer of FOODPACK China, the largest industry exhibition in the Middle Kingdom.
